SABINA WILLEIT
Mezzo-soprano

Sabina Willeit was born in Bolzano (Italy) from a Ladin family.
At the State Conservatory of Music in Bolzano she studied Singing and graduated summa cum laude. Later on she studied at the "Accademia Rossiniana" in Pesaro and improved with M° Beniamino Prior.

As Marguerite|Faust she made her opera début at Teatro Lirico di Cagliari in 1999. This was followed by guest performances at Teatro Sistina in Rome and at the 'Festspiele' of Bad Kissingen and Ludwigsburg. She sang Flora|La Traviata at Maggio Musicale in Florence under Z.Metha, Doraballa|Così fan tutte directed by Claudio Desderi and Second Norn|Götterdämmerung at 'Erler Festspiele'.

In the year 2001 Willeit was winner of the important competition "As.li.co" in Milan. After this she performed Sesto|La Clemenza di Tito and Idamante|Idomeneo, both directed by Pier Luigi Pizzi, at the theatres of Cremona, Brescia, Pavia, Como, Pisa and Ravenna, and performances also inFrance in Vichy and Massy (Paris).
Further invitations to these theatres followed as Nicklausse|Les Contes d'Hoffmann, and Romeo|I Capuleti e i Montecchi directed by Cristina Mazzavillani Muti.
Sabina Willeit performed Tisbe|La Cenerentola at Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Second Dame|Die Zauberflöte in Lecce, Tebaldo|Don Carlo at Rome Opera under M° Nello Santi, Rosina|Il Barbiere di Siviglia and Cenerentola in Udine, Amor|L'Incoronazione di Poppea at Mozart-Festival La Coruna under Alberto Zedda, Zulma|L'Italiana in Algeri at the Festival of Aix-en-Provence and Leonarda|L'Ajo nell'imbarazzo (Donizetti) at Wexford Festival 2006 under Michele Mariotti.

In 2007 Willeit made her début under M° Arthur Fagen as Komponist|Ariadne auf Naxos in Bolzano and Lucca. Back to Bologna she performed Colombina|Arlecchino (Busoni) and Female Voice|Pulcinella (Stravinsky) produced also in DVD. These productions directed by Lucio Dalla were as well performed at Wexford Festival 2007. Later on Willeit sang Serpilla|Il Giocatore (Cherubini) at Opéra Royal de Wallonie Liège.

Besides Sabina Willeit shoes high activity in the field of concerts. Amongst others she sang important parts under M°Gustav Kuhn, Günter Neuhold, Corrado Rovaris, Riccardo Frizza, Ralf Weikert: Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde, Mozart's Requiem, DeFalla's El amor brujo, Rossini's Stabat Mater and Petite Messe Solemnelle, Berlioz's Les Nuits d'Eté, Beethoven's 9th Simphony, etc.

In the year 2008 Willeit performed Zulma at the Theatre of Luxemburg together with the Festival of Aix-en-Provence and sang various concerts of Rossini-Stabat Mater under Alberto Zedda.

Since September 2008 Sabina Willeit has been member of the Ensemble of Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe. There she made her debut as Fricka|Das Rheingold; further roles were Eboli|Don Carlo, also along with Ramon Vargas, Fricka|Die Walküre, Cherubino|Le Nozze di Figaro, Komponist|Ariadne auf Naxos, Judith|Herzog Blaubarts Burg, and Eglantine|Euryanthe. In 2010 she sang, amongst others, Romeo|I Capuleti e i Montecchi in Liège with Patrizia Ciofi and Dalila|Samson et Dalila together with José Cura, who performed and directed at the same time. In 2011 she sang Fricka|Rheingold and Walküre and Waltraute and Zweite Norn|Götterdämmerung in one week at Easter, as well as Laura|La Gioconda together with Violeta Urmana.

In September 2011 she sang Dalila at Beseto Opera in Seoul (South Korea) and debuted Ernestina|L'equivoco stravagante by Rossini in Basel-Rhien, performing the same role at Opéra Royal de Wallonie Liège (02/2012) and in Skt. Moritz (06/2012).
In July 2012 she debuted as Azucena|Il Trovatore in Udine and Pordenone.

Future plans include the role of Hänsel in Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel in Teatro Comunale of Bolzano (January 2013).
